Some History of our Club
Groenkloof Bowls Club, previously known as Pretoria Vriendekring, was established in 1960, and has seen many Bowling Players coming through this club over the years.
The Clubhouse as we know it today, was originally built in 1966.
Club House Today
Currently, we are a fairly small club in membership numbers, compared to some of the other well established Bowling clubs in the Pretoria region, but we are working hard in growing our membership again and to also improve the facilities on the ground, in order for Groenkloof Bowls Club to become more than just a Bowling Club, but also to become a sports club with various sports facilities.
Our Facilities
We currently have 2 Bowling Greens, in tip top condition. And we are playing social every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday mornings – starting at 8:30 for 9:00.
Should you wish to join us for a social game, it is R20 for a Visitor, and you can just pre-book with Carl the day prior to one of our social games, by completing the contact form on our contact us page
One of the Sports Facilities recently built on the grounds, is Padel Tennis, consisting of 5 Courts. The courts officially opened for the public in November 2023, and we have already seen an increase in people coming through our gates, not just to play Padel tennis, but also to enquire and try out their skills on the Bowling greens.
Culture Club has now completed their renovations, and is open to the public.
Come join us for a cup of coffee or and Ice Cold Beer after a game of Bowls or Padel Tennis. Or bring your family, and come for lunch…
Coaching
Our coaching classes for 2024 has started, and anyone is welcome to join in on Thursday mornings for some extra practice….!!
One of the things we are working on as part of our Coaching/Training sessions – and that is our Fault Correction. (see diagram for more information)
